RBS provided the role of Commissioning Validation Engineer on behalf of Galliford Try and operating as an independent responsibility to achieve satisfactory MEP testing and commissioning in accordance with BREEAM ‘Very Good’ environmental performance rating.
RBS were engaged at the final phases of the project to ensure installation quality, commissioning validation, record drawing checks and handover certification.
The Stage 3 MEP design was produced by WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2015 and taken forward by MEP contractor Lorne Stewart in a Design and Build capacity.
The site is occupied by the University College London and utilised as a student hall of residence facility with self-catering communal kitchens and bathrooms on each floor, the building also provides a gym and common areas.
The building consists of 7 floors (Ground – 6th floor with lower ground and roof areas), the building has interconnecting blocks known as the main and annex buildings.
The project involved increasing accommodation at the Charlotte Street site, with space for 291 people, ensuite accommodation and fully accessible rooms for disabled students. It includes a refurbishment and rear extension and a remodelling of the floor plan to create new 'cluster blocks' to encourage communal living and to help students develop friendships in their first year.
